Elizabeth Kuefler

Elizabeth Kuefler, violist, completed her DMA degree at Stony Brook University as a full scholarship student of Katherine Murdock. Elizabeth began studying violin at age seven in Kansas. In addition to classical studies, an interest in folk music during her high school years led to her winning the Kansas State fiddle championship. She studied fiddle with Natalie MacMaster in Cape Breton, Nova Scotria, and was also invited to perform with the Chieftains at that time.

Elizabeth studied violin at Toronto's Royal Conservatory with Lorand Fenyves from 2001-2002. She earned her Bachelor's degree in violin performance from the University of Kansas in 2004, studying under Ben Sayevich. She has also studied chamber music with the Emerson, Cavani, Juilliard and Kronos string quartets. She participated in the Centre d'Arts in Orford, Ontario, the Cleveland Institute's Encore program, and was selected as a fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center. She participated in the Taos Music Festival in 2007.
